New legal status and charity number for York Women’s Counselling Service.

York Women’s Counselling Service (YWCS) has a new charity registration number.  Our ethos, vision and service are unchanged and we will continue to be caring, professional and focused on helping women through providing high-quality, affordable  counselling services.

The change has come about because of an important change to our legal structure from being a Trust Limited by Guarantee to being a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).  This brings YWCS up to date with new charity legislation which wasn’t in place when YWCS was originally founded in 2001.  Being a CIO does not change the work of the name, vision, mission or work of the charity but does provide a more appropriate legal structure  for YWCS to operate within. 

Funders and supporters will continue to be able to access charity records from prior to March 2024 which are held with the Charity Commission under our previous charity number 1086078. 
York Women’s Counselling Service’s new Registered Charity Number is 1207150.
